Melbourne-based photographer Jessica Tremp uses her camera to finally realize her childhood fantasies. She says, “When I was little I used to dream about being a dancer or that I could fly and that I would learn to speak the language of the animals in the forest or that of the most dramatic actor. With the click of a finger I've found a way to make these things come true.”
The photographer's series titled Pick Up Sticks is particularly rich with fantasy-driven images of a young woman trekking through the mysterious and, at times, lonesome woods. The subject is accompanied by a few furry and feathered friends in this mystically enchanted forest as she comes to terms with her emotions. The series depicts the range of this young woman's inner turmoils varying from loneliness and defeat to creature companionship and triumphant freedom.
