Plants are a crucial part of our day-to-day lives and are vitally important to the world around us. They provide us with sustenance, medicines, and raw materials that can be used to create a plethora of products. However, few people take the time to thoroughly inspect Earth's greenery. Luckily, photographer Rob Kesseler teamed up with seed morphologist Wolfgang Stuppy and palynologist Dr. Madeline Harley to give us an up-close look at the flora we normally admire from a distance. Together, this multidisciplinary team explore the micro world of nature that goes unnoticed to the naked eye.
Kesseler used the art of microphotography to capture Mother Nature's opulent diversity in the form of fruits, pollen, and seeds. Stuppy and Dr. Harley then added text to explain exactly what viewers are seeing for a 2016 calendar called Pollen Seeds Fruit. Between these informative passages and Kesseler's intricate photographs, observers can effortlessly connect to the surrounding environment as they check off the days on their calendar.
