Modern Design: "Lumen" – Oil Lamp Shadow Projectors

I absolutely love this brilliant design by Brooklyn-based artist and product inventor Adam Frank. Lumen is a series of acid-etched, stainless steel, oil lamp shadow projectors. The beautifully designed lamp throws a soft shadow on the wall when lit, as the flame flickers, the shadow moves about organically. The farther Lumen is from the wall, the larger the shadow.

Awesome Contemporary Chinese Art – Zhong Biao: China (10 photos)

Aside from the obvious beauty displayed in Zhong Biao's paintings, there's something else that really draws me in. His pieces have such depth and leave me with a curiosity of what is really going on… “I don't want to force my own understanding or interpretation of my paintings on the audience. The mixture of images within each of my paintings is like a combination of controversial elements in life.

Some of SpY's pieces are “classics” in my book. Hailing from Madrid, SpY is a famous urban artist that uses many different mediums. His work consists in the playful reappropriation of urban elements, that he replicates or transforms, and then installs in the street. SpY's pieces are meant to shake up the equilibrium of an urban dweller.

I Love Modern Architecture – "Dupli Casa" by Jurgen Mayer: Germany

The thing I admire most about “Dupli Casa” is the elegant lines of the private residence that seamlessly blends the structure with the sloping land. If you look at the home from different angles, it completely changes shape. Designed by German architect Jurgen Mayer, this spaceship-like building is three stories, made of concrete, and rests near Neckar River in Germany.
