Male Emu Unexpectedly Incubates Eggs From Different Birds and Hatches Six Chicks

One of the most exciting things about caring for animals is that they will always keep you guessing. Wildlife rehabilitator Foxfeather Zenkova realized this when one of her emus decided to incubate some old eggs, which led to a whole mob of little chicks. What made this different is that it was that this male emu was incubating not only emu eggs but also eggs that came from geese, chickens, and ducks.

Owl Whose Own Eggs Didn’t Hatch Adopts Two Orphaned Owlets

Luna the owl has wanted to be a mom for a long time, but the affectionate bird hasn’t had the best of luck. Over the last two years, she’s tried—with little success—to start a family of her own. “Not only did her eggs fail to hatch this year, but she also lost her clutch last year,” says British wildlife artist and rehabilitator Robert E. African Flamingo Spotted in Texas 17 Years After Escaping Kansas Zoo

In a twist that sounds like a Disney movie come to life, an African flamingo that escaped from a Kansas zoo 17 years ago is still living its best life out in the wild. Last spotted in 2019, the flamingo—known as No. 492 for the number on its leg band—recently made an appearance again. A local fisherman and wildlife guide reported the sighting on the coast of Texas.
