Incredibly Detailed Hand-Illustrated Map Gives You an Intricate Look at the MET’s Collections

It's practically a Metropolitan Museum of Art tradition for visitors to get lost in the depths of the massive Beaux-Arts building while trying to soak in but a tenth of the collections on display. John Kerschbaum undertook a similarly daunting task in 2004 to illustrate a condensed, but no less detailed, map of the MET’s exhibits for visitors to use.

Artist Nneka Jones creates portraits highlighting women of color who have suffered injustices in the world. Some abuses are overt while others are ingrained in the fabric of our society and therefore often go overlooked. But to the people in her mixed media and embroidered portraits, the effects are traumatic. The Black women and girls depicted in Jones’ work are victims of sexual abuse and sex trafficking.

Pet Owners Are Making Paw-Fect Flower Paintings With Their Dogs’ Feet

Last month, we introduced you to an art collective of rats who create tiny abstract paintings with their feet, but these pets aren’t the only animals with artistic talent. Dog owners have recently discovered that their pups make great co-creators. People online have been painting their dogs’ feet with washable (non-toxic) paint, stamping their paws onto paper, and turning the cute prints into beautiful flower paintings.
