Last month, we introduced you to an art collective of rats who create tiny abstract paintings with their feet, but these pets aren’t the only animals with artistic talent. Dog owners have recently discovered that their pups make great co-creators. People online have been painting their dogs’ feet with washable (non-toxic) paint, stamping their paws onto paper, and turning the cute prints into beautiful flower paintings.
The idea came from a woman named LJ, who decided to paint the paws of her dog, named Biscuit. The adorable prints looked like the shape of a flower, so LJ decided to fill in the stems and leaves with a paintbrush to complete the picture. The idea took off online, and there’s even an Instagram hashtag (#dogpawpainting) dedicated to the craft. The finished works not only look pretty enough to hang on your wall, but they’re a lot of fun to make and a great bonding experience for you and your pup.
Feeling inspired to make your own paw print flower paintings? You’ll need non-toxic paint (try multiple colors), a paintbrush, paper, and of course—your dog’s paw. Check out some paw-some paintings below for inspiration.
