Colorful Watercolor Paintings Immortalize Tokyoโ€™s Historical Storefronts

After moving from Kobe to Tokyo three years ago, Polish animator Mateusz Urbanowicz was struck by the number of historical buildings that survive in Japan's capital. So, he did what any real artist would, and set out to capture Tokyo's storefronts in beautiful watercolor paintings. While Urbanowicz's day job has him working for a Tokyo animation studio, he also works on his own, private art projects, often in watercolor.

Mind-bending artist Johnson Tsang is back with a new series of surreal porcelain sculptures. In line with his playful art, the Open Mind series is whimsical, yet emotionally revealing. Here, the Hong Kong-based sculptor makes porcelain look like Silly Putty, as the minds of human faces stretch and transform shape. As a self-taught artistโ€”Tsang served 13 years on the Royal Police Force before turning to art in 1991โ€”he has mastered many techniques. Yet clay remains his preferred medium.
