Daniel Popper’s Surreal Sculpture in the Mojave Desert

Rising from the sands of California's Mojave desert, a woman's face and hand cut a striking figure. The work of South African sculptor Daniel Popper, the mosaicked installation sits at the Mojave Moon Ranch in Joshua Tree. Designed to remind visitors of their spiritual place in the universe, the monumental sculpture is both surreal and serene. The face, which is 32 feet tall, has all the characteristics that define Popper's work.

Poignant Wooden Sculpture Conveys Layers of Human Conflicts Contained in One Figure

Spain-based artist David de la Mano captures the strife of human conflict in his latest work of art. Titled Under the Skin, this large-scale wooden sculpture was installed at the European Parliament for a collective exhibition on human rights. It features a silhouette of a woman's head containing numerous scenes of conflict painted inside. De la Mano uses his background in sculpture and public art to convey many narratives in a single piece.
