NASA and USPS Release Commemorative Stamps Featuring James Webb Space Telescope Photos

Since NASA's James Webb Space Telescope began its mission in 2022, we have seen stunning images of astronomic sights like the Pillars of Creation and the Ring Nebula. To commemorate this powerful telescope, NASA and the U.S. Postal Service have released two commemorative Priority Mail stamps featuring the JWST's most recognizable images. The first is a Priority Mail Express stamp that includes Webb's NIRCam (Near-Infrared Camera) image of the “Cosmic Cliffs” in the Carina Nebula.

Digital Atlas of Over 380,000 Galaxies Is Made Available Online

The universe is so vast that it would be impossible to map all of it. However, with 383,620 galaxies under its belt, the Siena Galaxy Atlas (SGA) covers a significant portion. The online archive uses data from three Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument Legacy Surveys collected between 2014 and 2017 (known as the DESI Legacy Surveys) to present images and detailed information about what lies in outer space.

Halley’s Comet Has Begun Its 38-Year Journey Back Toward Earth

Halley's Comet is one of the most fascinating astronomic events ever, with records dating back to a thousand years ago. It was last visible from Earth in 1986, and since it comes around every 75 to 79 years, its next sighting will take place in July 2061. And while that seems a while away, we can now start looking forward to its return.
