Concrete House Looks Like a Fortress Floating on Water

Created to not only take full use of its surrounding area but also help re-introduce the native wetlands, the Stamp House aims to be an off-the-grid environmental statement that looks like a fortress floating on water. Designed by Charles Wright Architects and located in the FNQ beachfront rain-forest of Queensland, Australia, this building is only accessible by bridge and has been built to handle nature's roughest conditions.

Ordinary Objects Redesigned as Useless Items

Italian artist Giuseppe Colarusso, aka Mister Solo, redesigns ordinary objects as playful, nonsensical items in his series titled Improbabilit, translated as Unlikely. Clearly inspired by Fluxus, Dada, and the works of Marcel Duchamp, the artist presents a whimsical array of everyday objects whose core components have been substituted with opposing elements. By replacing the handles of cutlery and eating utensils with strands of rope, Colarusso redefines their usability and purpose, ultimately rendering the objects useless.

1920s Lightbulb Voltage Tester Transforms into Personal Bar

Inspired by an early 20th century light bulb voltage tester that was discovered in a factory in Germany, this hinged metallic replica opens up to reveal an impressive bar. Equipped with three shelves, three stemware racks, and five slots for wine bottles, the 265-pound iron ball is fully capable of storing all the best liquor, spirits, and barware. The unique design also exudes an overwhelming sense of masculinity.
