Jane Goodall Narrates Beautiful Animated Poem About Saving Earth

It started as a poem, filled with lines inviting readers to listen to “the whisper” and act. Then it became a children’s book with majestic owls and other airy illustrations. Now, Tom Rivett-Carnac‘s children’s book What Happened When We All Stopped has become a wistful animated poem narrated by anthropologist and UN Messenger of Peace Jane Goodall.

Germany Announces Ban on Single-Use Plastics Starting in 2021

Germany is stepping up measures to get in line with European Union guidelines to ban single-use plastics by 2021. In an effort to squash “throw-away culture,” Germany is banning the sale of single-use plastic straws, cotton buds, and food containers. As of July 3, 2021, consumers will no longer find these items in circulation.

Venice’s Canal Turns Crystal Clear During Coronavirus Quarantine

It's been a difficult 12 months for Venice. With record floods in November, the city was already in recovery mode when the coronavirus began its grip on Italy in late February. As of March 18, the Veneto region, where Venice is located, has the third most cases of coronavirus in the country with over 3,200 positive cases and nearly 100 deaths.

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter Built a Solar Farm in His Hometown That Powers Half the City

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, who was one of the earliest advocates for using renewable energy, installed water heating solar panels on the roof of the White House in 1979, during his administration. Unfortunately, the next President, Ronald Reagan, ordered them to be removed, as he had a different take on energy consumption. However, that didn’t hinder Carter’s dedication to providing clean, efficient energy to the public.
