Dramatic Portraits of Ethereal Women Captured with Natural Light

Photographer Alessio Albi has continued to capture images of women that feature an incredible use of their surrounding environment. Rather than taking an ordinary portrait, the photographer utilizes the quirks and distinguishing features of each unique setting to add an interesting aesthetic within the frame. Before viewers' eyes, an ordinary fence becomes a vital piece of his visual puzzle, casting a distinct shadow across his model's face.

Riveting Trash-Based Sculptures Mirror Significant Environmental Issues

Alejandro Durn's Washed Up was recently honored with the 2015 Project Launch Juror's Award, which recognizes an outstanding photographer working with fine art or a documentary. For his project, Durn chose to take on the noticeable environmental issues that are currently affecting Sian Ka'an, Mexico's largest federally-protected reserve.  The insightful artist started out by identifying waste from fifty nations on six continents, which washed ashore on Sian Ka'an.

Unbelievable Stacks of Balanced Stones Seem to Defy Gravity

Artist Michael Grab of Gravity Glue is incredibly skilled at achieving beautiful harmony in the most surprising rock formations. His delicately assembled stacks, entitled Balancing Rocks, seem to defy gravity. However, he says that gravity is the only “glue” that holds his structures together. The creative stone balancing process initially grew out of Grab's simple curiosity and has since developed into what he describes as a therapeutic ritual.

Beautiful Swiss Architecture Echoes Its Natural Landscape

Swiss architect Mario Botta designed a spectacular site known as Berg Oase whose structure brilliantly simulates its mountainous surroundings. Located at the base of the mountains in Arosa, Switzerland, the complementing architecture both echoes the landscape's natural motifs and adds flair to the environment. The visually impactful structures in Botta's design gain the attention of visitors while respecting the surrounding village by incorporating the natural visual elements of trees, mountains, and leaves.
