Photo Retoucher Transforms Real-Life Animals into Cubed Creatures From Minecraft

Photo manipulation ideas can come from anywhere. For Aditya Aryanto, inspiration struck from the wildly popular computer game called Minecraft, in which players build things out of textured cubes in an ever-expanding 3D world. Similarly, his series called Minecraft in Real Life (or Anicube) imagines photographed furry animals in the same cubic format you'd see in the game.

B&W Photos Give Firsthand Perspective of Daily Life in 1940s New York

New York City in the 1940s was buzzing with activity, with the population of Manhattan almost reaching 2 million inhabitants. These incredible black and white photographs, which document everyday life in New York City, are a glimpse back at this era. From street peddlers selling fish or fresh ears of corn, to cars stalled under mounds of snow, scenes are both familiar and nostalgic.

19th Century ‘Devil’s Bridge’ Uses Its Reflection to Form a Perfect Circle

At first glance, it looks as though nature has created a perfect circle that frames the gorgeous landscape of Germany's Kromlauer Park. But look a little longer and you'll realize that this stunning sight is the result of a clever optical illusion. An arched bridge called Rakotzbrücke, or devil’s bridge, is responsible for fooling your eye. Rakotzbrücke was commissioned by a knight of  Kromlau and completed in 1860.

Then and Now Photos Show People as Young Adults and at 100 Years Old

In his sentimental series, Faces of Century, Opava-based photographer Jan Langer visually presents the inevitable changes that accompany aging. With 100-year-old Czechs as his muses, Langer explores the effects of time through a collection of then-and-now photos. Faces of Century is composed of several pairs of photographs. Each coupled combination depicts the same person as a young adult and as a centenarian. To adequately showcase the changes evident in each individual's appearance, the subjects recreate the poses present in the older photographs.
