Winners of Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2014

Winners of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards were recently announced and the photos are better than ever! The competition, which is put on by the Natural History Museum and BBC Worldwide, is one of the exciting photo competitions around because of all of the great entries. This year, they received more than 42,000 from 96 countries.

Meet Toast, the Adorable Dog Whose Tongue Is Constantly Sticking Out

Meet Toast, an adorable Cavalier King Charles Spaniel whose luxurious locks are always accompanied by her signature tiny tongue. She was rescued in 2011 from a puppy mill in North Carolina and adopted by her owners in New York City. Luckily, she found a forever home with them but had to get all of her rotten teeth removed; it's why we see her tongue in every photo.

Dallas-based photographer and former U.S. Marine Joel Pars' powerful portrait series Judging America embodies the age-old idiom “don't judge a book by its cover.” Through these photos, Pars seeks to challenge any prejudices that viewers may hold against other people based on race, socioeconomic status, sexual preference, or appearance. Each image consists of two portraits of a person.

Photographer Braves Volcanic Lava for Once-in-a-Lifetime Images

In case you weren't aware, there's a volcanic eruption taking place in Iceland. The Brarbunga volcano in the Holuhraun lava field began its flair-up on August 29, and by the beginning of September was spewing hundreds of cubic meters of lava. This stunning scene has produced some breath-taking images for Icelandic photographer and Guide to Iceland co-founder Iurie Belegurschi. He was brave enough to travel near the action and snap these beautiful pictures.
