Dark and Moody Zoo Animal Portraits by Alex Teuscher

Geneva-based photographer Alex Teuscher shows us the fine art of zoo animals with these dark and moody portraits. He originally came up with the idea when he was going through his old files of animal photos and felt like something was missing. “I decided to experiment and see what kind of results I could get,” he tells us.

Portraits Made Electric by Luminescent Neon Paint

Flecks of vivid neon paint glow brilliantly off faces and shoulders in this series of portraits by Portuguese photographer Hid Saib. At times, the glowing paint seems like the scattered embers of a fire or an explosive shower of sparks racing across the cheeks of the model. In other instances, the disarray seems more serene.

Racial Comments Heard by Teenagers on a Daily Basis

Racial Microaggressions is a photo project by Fordham University student Kiyun Kim that addresses the racial comments that she and her peers succumb to on a daily basis. They may not be attacks from organized groups, shunning them for their cultural, ethnic, or religious backgrounds, but the words are tiny jabs that these youths are regularly subjected to because of stereotypical comparisons of behavior and physical attributes associated with their race.
