Entire Alphabet Found on the Wing Patterns of Butterflies

Norwegian nature photographer Kjell Bloch Sandved has devoted his photographic career to capturing the beauty of the world we live in and along the way, amassed a collection of butterfly and moth images with interesting patterns on their wings. Sanved's keen eye took notice of the spectacular shapes the natural designs came in, recognizing their resemblance to letters of the alphabet. As a result, he formed the Butterfly Alphabet.

Surreal Images of Faceless Men Stuck Between Two Worlds

Photographer Christopher Ryan McKenney plays with the visibility of men in nature, masking their faces in draped cloth or removing their heads entirely. Each surreal image depicts an incomplete man who appears to be in the process of either materializing or disappearing into thin air. Mystery surrounds the figure in each frame, which can strangely be seen within a physical frame in several instances.

Identical Twins’ Faces Reveal the Aging Effects of Smoking

Researchers from the Department of Plastic Surgery at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio conducted a study (Facial Changes Caused by Smoking: A Comparison between Smoking and Nonsmoking Identical Twins) that analyzes the physical differences between identical twins, one of whom has smoked cigarettes longer than the other.

Human Organs Formed with Wild Plant Arrangements

Lungs UK-based, Guatemalan-born artist Camila Carlow was not deterred by the complexity of the human body when she was developing her series Eye Heart Spleen. For the project, she transformed a handful of normally grotesque, bloody organs into an array of greenery and beautiful blossoms. Carlow collected all of the wild plants during early morning in Bristol and photographed the unusual arrangements in natural daylight.
