Emotive Portraits of People Submerged Underwater

Looking through photographer Alban Grosdidier's series, aptly titled Drowning, I found myself holding my breath. The collection of portraits give us all a taste of claustrophobia induced by the all-encompassing element of water. There's an involuntary reaction to these images that forces the viewer to empathize with the submerged models.

London-based photographer Edward Horsford has mastered the technique of timing in these photographs that feature split-second water balloon explosions. He's well-known for this exciting series, saying, “I started these as a way to challenge myself technically and creatively.” He's had great success with this self-initiated challenge! Horsford's goal in photography is to capture high speed moments that are rarely seen.

New Spectacular Self-Portraits by 18-Year-Old Alex Stoddard

One of My Modern Met's all-time favorite teen photographers is the wildly creative Georgia native Alex Stoddard. In the past year, the 18-year-old has accomplished a great deal at his young age, including graduating from high school and the completion of his highly praised 365 project. We were hooked early on and the conclusion of his year-long endeavor did not disappoint.
