New Spectacular Self-Portraits by 18-Year-Old Alex Stoddard

One of My Modern Met's all-time favorite teen photographers is the wildly creative Georgia native Alex Stoddard. In the past year, the 18-year-old has accomplished a great deal at his young age, including graduating from high school and the completion of his highly praised 365 project. We were hooked early on and the conclusion of his year-long endeavor did not disappoint.

Blurring the Lines Between Animals and Mankind

Canadian filmmaker and photographer Gregory Colbert captures the beautiful, uninhibited relationship between man and wildlife. He took a ten-year hiatus from exhibiting any work to travel the world, exploring the vast and natural landscapes of exotic lands including India, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Egypt, and Antarctica. On his journey, he discovered and documented the exquisite coexistence of humans and animals in his ongoing series titled Ashes and Snow.

Talk about an eye-catching photo! Portal {Matthew Spiegelman in his studio with mirror, two way mirror, c-stands, clamp with suction cup, two geared tripod heads, three strobes, 4×5 camera, 180mm lens} [Variation 6] 2010 by Matthew Spiegelman makes some very clever use of mirrors…..Just goes to show that magical photos like this don't come easy! Spiegelman is part of the New York Photo Festival in Brooklyn which started yesterday will go on until May 20.

The moment I saw these photos, something stirred inside of me. Artist Jose Romussi breathes new life into old photos by embroidering colorful thread onto skirts and dresses. While the Chile-based mixed media artist has a website full of peculiar and strange collages, it's this fanciful series that has captured my attention.
