One Photographer’s Playful Journey Through 25 Historic Sites in France

She first caught our attention back in December 2010, with her series Sleep Elevation, where beautiful young women were seemingly floating away while they were sound asleep. The French photographer is now debuting a brand new series called ImagineFrance, at Emmanuel Fremin Gallery in New York from May 8 to May 24.

Back in March, we first told you about the start of the 2014 National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest, one of the most exciting contests for those passionate about traveling and photography. Now in its 26th year, the contest asks anyone with a camera to show National Geographic their best travel experiences. The four categories you can submit your photos in are Travel Portraits, Outdoor Scenes, Sense of Place, and Spontaneous Moments.

Unbelievable Specimens Lurking in a Magnified Splash of Seawater

For anyone who's ever accidentally swallowed a gulp of salty seawater, watch out–this photo might make you a little queasy. Photographer David Liittschwager captured this eye-opening image that reveals the unbelievable contents in a random splash of seawater, magnified 25 times. As we can see, even the smallest drop of seawater is home to an incredible variety of tiny creatures and plants that are collectively known as plankton.
