Photographer Captures Incredible Image of Mars Peeking Out From Behind the Moon

Astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy is always pushing his work to new levels. By capturing and stacking thousands of images—sometimes over 100,000—he's able to produce incredibly high-resolution photographs of the night sky. So it's no surprise that when important astronomical events come around, he's prepared. For instance, the recent lunar occultation of Mars was an opportunity too good to pass up, so McCarthy packed up his equipment and made sure he was ready.

Stunning Aerial Photos Capture Rare Sight of Icelandic Highlands When Thawed

Photographer Sebastian Müller spent ten days in Iceland, driving over 3,000 miles through the Highlands to take in the incredible scenery. Using his drone, he was able to capture incredible aerial views of the famous landscape, taking advantage of the different colors and textures produced by the country's geothermal activity. The results are sweeping, dramatic images that once again prove why Iceland is a favorite playground of photographers.

Photographer Discovers Three “Dancing” Bear Cubs Having Fun in Finnish Forest

Dancing bears seem like something out of a fairy tale, but teacher and photography enthusiast Valtteri Mulkahainen found the magical scene happening in real life. Upon exploring the Finnish forest near the town of Martinselkonen, he saw a bear and her three cubs walking to a clearing. “I hid and watched to see what they would do,” he tells My Modern Met.
