Spectacular Photo Captures a Total Lunar Eclipse and Milky Way in One Otherworldly Scene

The total lunar eclipse on May 15, 2022, was a spectacular sight with many photographers capturing amazing astrophotography shots. Adding to this collection of gorgeous images is a unique photograph by Dane Smith. In one image, he captures the Milky Way and the lunar eclipse as they stand high above the mountains in Spruce Knob, West Virginia. Astrophysics Grad Takes Epic Graduation Photo Under a Total Lunar Eclipse

On the day of Vincent Ledvina’s college graduation, the stars aligned to create a truly spectacular photo. Well, it wasn't the stars as much as it was the Moon and the Earth; an awe-inspiring total lunar eclipse happened on the same day as his ceremony. For about 85 minutes on Sunday, May 15, 2022, the Moon was completely in Earth’s shadow and transformed into a reddish-orange orb.

NASA’s Mars Curiosity Rover Photographs a Mysterious “Alien Portal”

For nearly 10 years, NASA's Curiosity rover has been traversing Mars in an effort to learn more about the Red Planet's climate and geology. The goal is to understand if Mars has ever had conditions that were favorable to supporting life. Along the way, Curiosity's Mastcam has been snapping photographs that document the experience. All of the raw data is uploaded onto NASA's website and a particular image from May 7 is getting people excited.
