Surreal Sculptures Look Like Life-Size Animals Covered Completely in Ornate Carpets

British sculptor Debbie Lawson brings her incredible work to New York with a solo exhibition at Sargent's Daughters. Hidden Territories features Lawson's signature sculptures of wildlife cloaked in carpets, including work created for a recent site-specific installation at Rockefeller Center. Merging the natural world with an item from domestic spaces, Lawson's surreal sculptures are hypnotic. In some cases, her animals appear to emerge from within the carpet hanging on a wall, thanks to a trompe-l’oeil effect.

Meticulously Handcrafted Miniature Tea Sets Made Entirely of Polymer Clay

No, your eyes are not deceiving you. You're looking at miniature dinnerware made of polymer clay, handcrafted by a South Korean artisan known as Clay Zoo. By using white and blue clay that is folded on itself to create realistic ceramic patterns, the artist constructs a tiny tea set with a teapot and mugs, as well as a variety of bowls and serving platters. Each piece is skillfully handmade from a meticulously designed clay cane.

Studio Woodart Vietnam takes hefty blocks of wood and transforms them into incredible sculptures. Founder Duy Tran has used his family background and training in traditional carvings and merged it with his interest in pop culture and anime. Sweden-based artist Benjamin Uggla creates playful blob-like characters that have sprouted arms, legs, and eyes. While they possess an alien appearance, they are rendered doing a range of everyday human activities, like playing video games and using the computer, making them somehow relatable.
