Sitting on the Edge of the World

When I first saw these images by German photographer Christopher Hassler, I had to stop and stare for a minute to figure out what is going on in each scene. And I imagine that is probably the artist's intentions with this series, entitled Point of View. Using a fisheye lens in a long tunnel, Hassler finds angles that confuse his viewers.

What's up and what's down is a visual mystery until you spend a little more time with the image and discover the photographic manipulations that Hassler has perfected. Very simple color palettes against a monochrome background allow viewers to focus on the visual tricks taking place. Some of these actual make me feel dizzy! Through distortion, unique perspectives, and a creative eye, the German artist wows us with his work and I don't know about you, but I would love to see more!
