Two "Fangirls" Travel the World to Perfectly Align Film and TV Stills with Their Filming Locations

Tiia hman and Satu Walden are two self-proclaimed fangirls on a quest to visit every filming location from their favorite movies and TV shows, all across the globe. Since late 2013, not only have the duo been on a global adventure, but they've also been documenting their trek around the world with creative photos of their iconic finds.

Using an iPad, hman and Walden superimpose still shots from popular shows (e.g. Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, etc.) and beloved movies (e.g. Forrest Gump, The Avengers, Batman Begins, etc.) over the real locations they were originally filmed on, aligning every piece of architecture and shrub within their device with the outside world.

The two pop culture enthusiasts first embarked on this traveling photo project while vacationing in the UK. They realized it was the perfect opportunity to combine their love of entertainment, photography, and traveling by doing what they call “sceneframing.”

Despite coming up with the idea, after finding inspiration from others on the internet, they had to figure out what to actually do with the photos they took. “After forgetting all about [the photos] for a couple of months [Tiia] decided to post them in her photography blog, to see if any other fans would like them,” Satu writes on their website. “As quite a surprise, they did – A LOT.”

The response was exactly the sort of encouragement they needed. Since then, they've raised enough money through crowdfunding to expand their personal project and go on a road trip across North America. They just completed that tour, but they're always ready for another adventure. You can keep up to date with hman and Walden's Fangirl Quest over on their website.
