Growing Chair by Michel Bussien provides an interesting way of bringing the outdoors indoors. There is a willow tree growing from each leg and Russian vines are wrapped throughout. Bussien elaborates, “Growing Chair is an attempt to make trees and plants grow up into chairs that can be harvested and brought straight from ‘the field' into the living room.”
The intertwining vines and vivid green colors in the chair are simply stunning. The less restricted growth from the top of the chair adds even more to the organic look of the piece. In The Nature Manifesto, Bussien focuses on how we have been growing apart from nature despite being a product of it ourselves. He suggests that we should work towards a more harmonious relationship, saying “Let us use the complexity of living nature and include it in our creations.”
