Amusing Mashups Imagine the Alternate Lives of Superhero Action Figures

What do superheroes do when we’re not looking? Japanese Instagramer @hotkenobi gives us an idea with his amusing series of action figure photography. The playful scenes feature characters from the Marvel, DC, and Star Wars universes engaging in some hilarious pranks and epic battle scenes… with things like hairspray and dried noodles. Batman, The Hulk, Deadpool, and many others make an appearance in these perfectly-timed portraits, where they engage in mashups you won’t find in comic books or movies.

HotKenobi expertly crafts lively vignettes that look realistic, despite the fact that they’re composed with plastic action figures. As Spiderman twists his web around an aluminum can, it’s easy to imagine that this tiny character has super human strength—the can makes a visually-satisfying crunch and HotKenobi supplements it with cartoon-esque liquid that splashes from the tab.

Although HotKenobi typically uses superhero and villain subjects, he does branch out. Pikachu and Poké Balls also make an appearance! With this wide and varied creativity, we can’t wait to see what other crazy situations these fictional characters find themselves in.

Instagrammer HotKenobi artfully “plays” with toys in his amusing action figure photography.
