To celebrate her daughter, Emma, turning 5 years old, photographer Jaime Moore decided to do a photo shoot with the young girl dressed up as five different women that have influenced change and progress for women. Each image also includes an empowering quote by the woman Emma is echoing, below it. The proud mother wanted to commemorate her daughter's birthday by doing something that reflected strength and allowed little Emma to emulate real women she could look up to.
Originally, when Moore settled on the idea of doing a photo shoot, she began searching for creative ideas. Unfortunately, she was met with the same celebratory themes for little girls–Disney Princesses. While Moore admits that she, too, loves Disney Princesses for the fantasy and aesthetic reasons, she wanted something more substantial for this shoot with her daughter.
Moore says, “It started me thinking about all the REAL women for my daughter to know about and look up too, REAL women who without ever meeting Emma have changed her life for the better. My daughter wasn't born into royalty, but she was born into a country where she can now vote, become a doctor, a pilot, an astronaut, or even President if she wants and that's what REALLY matters. I wanted her to know the value of these amazing women who had gone against everything so she can now have everything.” She adds, “Let's set aside the Barbie Dolls and the Disney Princesses for just a moment, and let's show our girls the REAL women they can be.”
