Today, flocks of fashion-forward designers are proving the power of accessories. From bird scarves to solar system jewelry, these creatives are designing products that can take your sense of style to new heights. And Moscow-based KrukruStudio‘s Wings backpacks are leading the way.
Each of KrukruStudio’s whimsical “bags-objects” looks like a striking set of bird or angel wings. The series of backpacks come in a range of color schemes, including monochromatic tones—like black, white, and pink—as well as eye-catching metallics and even an enchanting rainbow gradient. Regardless of coloring, every bag is made with ample care to ensure a sky-high quality product.
Each bag is fully lined, has a handy zipper closure, and features an interior and exterior pocket—though it’s the team’s above-and-beyond handiwork that steals the show. “When we finally got to work on the Wings backpack we first tried several ways to simplify the design and make it more ‘production-friendly,’ ” Lyuba and Max tell My Modern Met. “It didn’t quite work, so we had to take our usual way of making everything complicated and detailed to make the backpack look stunning.”
This, the team elaborates, involved stitching nearly 200 hand-cut feathers into several layers that echo the look and feel of feathered wings—a labor of love they retain to this day.
