Playfully Interactive Light Shaped Like an Abstract Bird

Perch Light is a playful light design that looks like a small, abstract bird sitting quietly on the edge of a ledge. It was created by London-based Umut Yamac, an architect and designer who enjoys creating works that blend his interest in traditional materials like metal with more fragile materials like paper. The balancing sculpture is made out of folded archival paper, LEDs, and brass and is illuminated through contact with the brass.

For 16 years, skateboarder and artist Ed Templeton found himself naturally drawn to these very private moments that were taking place in a public forum. From a voyeuristic perspective, he photographed young lovers who were consumed by each other and completely unconcerned about their surrounding audience.
