Librarians Show Off Their Risqu Side Through Tattoos

Last fall, the Rhode Island Library Association (RILA) launched their first-ever Tattooed Librarians of the Ocean State 2014 calendar. Proving that librarians aren't just strict, buttoned-up middle aged women, this calendar features 12 librarian and library workers who are proud of their jobs and of their rebellious ink. Each photograph captures the models showing off not only their love of books, but highlights their tattoos as well.

Photorealistic Steel Wire Mesh Portraits by Seung Mo Park

Brooklyn-based Korean sculptor Seung Mo Park never ceases to amaze us with his skilled craftsmanship in working with wire. In addition to sculpting three-dimensional figures with the malleable, metallic rods, he manages to carefully clip layered sheets of stainless steel wire mesh into photorealistic portraits of people, places, and things. The artist's ongoing work, entitled Maya, utilizes Park's keen eye for shapes and shadows to form his monochromatic works.

Modern Tree Snake Houses Stand on Stilts in Portugal

Architects Lus Rebelo de Andrade and Tiago Rebelo de Andrade have recently designed and built two new additions, known as Tree Snake Houses, to the Pedras Salgadas Eco Resort in Portugal. These single-room cabins, prefabricated and assembled on site in order to minimize the impact on the nature park, are situated on stilts high in the tree tops.

Designers propose a wide range of concepts set within various tank sizes that are intended to function as nature-inspired habitats. The well-developed aquatic spaces include details like meticulously placed stones, trees, and mosses; sand and driftwood; and creatively arranged aquatic plants.
