Incredible Blue Squash Carvings by Ray Villafane

It's that time of year again! Master sculptor Ray Villafane and his crew at Villafane Studios have just started traveling all over the world again to create their masterful works of art…all on pumpkins! From September 19 to 22nd, they were in Ludwigsburg, Germany to attend the biggest pumpkin festival in all of Europe, called Krbisausstellung. While there, Ray decided to create a few Messerschmidt-inspired pieces.

Surreal Portraits of Elegant Women Inspired by Ballet

Giant Partying Aardvark is a Playground for Kids

Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman has been on a tear lately with his gargantuan sculptures. His giant floating rubber duck that sailed around Hong Kong is now in Taiwan where it's expected to remain until October 20, delighting local residents as it spreads it infectious message of happiness. Then there's that huge wooden hare that's happily sunbathing in Russia. Doesn't it look as if he doesn't have a care in the world?

Whimsical Artist Portraits Created with Balloon Heads

Artist's Face–Ballons is a playful portrait series by artist Laurina Paperina that blends human bodies with balloon heads. The project, which includes Frida Kahlo, Cindy Sherman, Joseph Kosuth, and even Paperina herself, creatively interprets each artist based on a combination of appearance and artistic style. Set within a studio, a bedroom, or against a blank wall, each unconventional image features a figure holding up a large balloon face covered with an artist-specific illustration.
