From a young age, Shanghai-based artist Yang Yongliang has explored Chinese art and calligraphy, but, even with its thousands of years of history, he is concerned that these traditional art forms are moving towards extinction. However, the artist believes that there are ways to move this art culture into more modern times by using the newest technology and techniques and blending them with the old.

Surreal Blossoming Head Sculptures Made of Wax

London-based artist Rebecca Stevenson creates figurative sculptures that blossom into surreal structures. Her multimedia figures, primarily constructed out of wax, incorporate floral motifs. The artists produces realistic renderings of heads paired with unconventional patterns and colors that burst out from the temple of her bodiless subjects. Stevenson transforms her sculpted heads into intriguingly abstract structures by crinkling and flowering out the resin rather than simply encasing the structure.

Epic: 99 Life-Sized Wild Animals Gather at a Watering Hole

Artist Cai Guo-Qiang is going to create a brand new installation that, no doubt, will have everyone talking. Called Heritage 2013, it will be the epic centerpiece of an exhibition coming to Queensland's Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) from November 23, 2013 to April 21, 2014. Gathered together around a watering hole will be 99 life-sized artificial wild animals from around the world.
