Beethoven Made of His Own Musical Notes

What better way to pay tribute to one of the greatest composers of all time than with a portrait using his own music? Earlier last year, Erika Iris Simmons embarked on a neat project. She would carefully cut up two full pages of second-hand sheet music with an X-acto knife, keeping all the bits of music as intact as possible. Then, she aligned the remainder of the two pages over her rough outline.

Illuminated Dripping Light Drop

Created to make us think about the way we use our natural resources, like water, the Light Drop designed by Wever & Ducre is a wall-mounted lighting installation that's not only interesting to look at but also pretty clever. The faucet-like taps control the dimming of the LED lights, so the more you twist on the tap, the brighter your room becomes.

Captain America’s Marvelous Vehicles

Hydra Schmidt Coupe Have you seen the new Captain America movie? If so, then these vehicles should look very familiar to you. Designed for the movie by vehicle designer Daniel Simon, all the concepts took inspiration and guidance from the early 1940's as well as from Marvel's universe. Overall, Simon created seven different vehicles between 2009 and 2010. Below, a brief description about each vehicle follows their photos.

Man Builds $5,200 Hobbit House

Last week, we saw a lodge in Chile that looked like a hobbit hotel and this week we bring you a woodland home with a similar aesthetic. Though this domain doesn't gush gallons of water, it is an alternative living space for a natural homestead. Photographer Simon Dale is responsible for the design and construction of this eco-home, despite his inexperience in architecture and carpentry.
