Recycled Skateboard Deck Art Comes to NYC!

If you live in NYC, this is one show you're not going to want to miss! Starting April 16th and running until May 14th, you're going to see skateboard decks like you've never seen them before. Jonathan LeVine Gallery will be presenting Future Primitive, new works by Tokyo-based artist Haroshi. You may remember Haroshi as that madly talented self-taught artist who takes old skateboard decks and turns them into incredibly cool works of art.

Pioneer of Surreal Photography

Jerry Uelsmann is a pioneer of surreal photography. He began assembling photographs from multiple negatives decades before digital tools like Photoshop were available. Back in the day, he was even friends with legendary nature photographer Ansel Adams and taught workshops with him in Yosemite for years. Uelsmann stated assembling images from multiple negatives back in the early 1950's.

Light Art Created Using Microsoft Kinect

While most people see Microsoft Kinect as a way to get their “dance” on, artist and photographer Audrey Penven saw it as way to create something surreal and otherworldly. After learning that Kinect could project a pattern of infrared dots known as “structured light,” she enlisted the help of some friends. First, her roommate Mike modified his camera with an infrared filter. Then, artist and animator Aaron Muszalski helped Penven with concepts.

Hilarious Yoga Dogs! (9 photos)

If you love yoga and you can't get enough of dogs, then you'll probably love Yoga Dogs, a book dedicated to some flexible furry creatures. Inspired by a friend's mastiff that would imitate its master's morning yoga routine, photographer Daniel Borris made a collection of 45 different dogs and puppies doing human yoga poses.
