Japanese Artists Imagine ‘Tokyoiter’ Magazine Covers Inspired by ‘The New Yorker’

Since 1925, The New Yorker has graced newsstands with its conceptually clever and creatively illustrated magazine covers. In homage to this recognizable and world-renowned aesthetic, a group of Tokyo-based illustrators have created their own covers inspired by Japan's blossoming capital city. Created for The Tokyoiter, a faux publication, each cover aims to “celebrate illustration, cartooning, drawing, design , creativity . . . and Tokyo.” Each Japanese illustration retains several of the original magazine's familiar features.

Man Spends Years Creating Detailed Models of WWI Trenches

For the past several years, Andy Belsey has created models of WWI trench sections in painstaking detail. So far he's modeled 9 different sections and blogs about his work on MilitaryModeling.com. [Editor's note: The website “Military Modeling” is no longer active; Belsey now has his own website where he shares tutorials on how he builds his models.] Made from everyday objects, he's ingeniously found ways to realistically recreate the look and feel of the trenches.

Taiwanese Police Introduces Their Newest Recruits with an Adorable Photo Shoot

It’s not often that a police force will make you say “awww,” but take one look at the newest recruits to Taiwan's National Police Agency (NPA) and you’ll fall in love. Lucky Star, Schumann, Feida, Brother, AJ, and Full Moon are Labrador puppy police dogs that have just started their training in the NPA’s K-9 Anti Bomb and Drug unit that’s based in Taipei.
