Mens' Facial Hair Gets Festive in "12 Beards of Christmas"

Each year, we don festive sweaters to show off our Christmas spirit, so why not spread the cheer to beards, too? Photographer Stephanie Jarstad captured some men whose delightful decorations aren't limited to their clothing or home decor. Instead, lighting, holly, berries, tiny stockings, and much more are attached to their long and impressive facial hair. She calls this quirky series the 12 Beards of Christmas.

Jarstad was inspired by Movember, which is an annual event during November where men grow their moustaches to raise awareness for prostate cancer. Earlier that month, she thought about also doing a project to support men's health, but she wanted to put a fun spin on the standard beard portrait. The eye-catching images are perfect for this time of year! Jarstad made posters and calendars of the photos available in her Etsy shop.

If you enjoy this unique form of fashion, be sure to check out Beard Baubles. It's a seasonal accessory meant to “Christmas your face” with multicolored ornaments that attach to facial hair. And, similar to 12 Beards of Christmas, it also raises health awareness in men – Beard Baubles' cause is for the disease melanoma.
