Two years ago, self-taught photographer Adrien Broom had a crazy dream. She would build eight room installations that would each represent a different color of the rainbow. The project would be about rediscovering the simple joys of color as seen through the eyes of a little girl. The multimedia endeavor would be part photography, part film, and part installation. Kickstarter fans helped pay for this dream back in February 2013, and now, the project has reached its final conclusion. We reported on this project back in July 2013, when Broom had completed just four of the eight installations – A World of White, Red, Yellow and Blue. Now, you can see how Broom designed the worlds of Orange, Green, Purple and Rainbow.
Most amazing is the photographer's use of props in every scene. You can watch how each room comes together in these short time-lapse videos.
When asked if there was any Photoshop was involved, Adrien said, “For the most part no, but there are some sets that needed a little help. For example the blue world. I knew I wanted it to be underwater, so I had to Photoshop in the ceiling. There was, however, 50 lbs of real sand all over my studio floor.”
The entire project, with corresponding installations, will be on view in June 2015 at the Hudson River Museum as part of Adrien's first solo museum show, “Shadows of Envy, Colors of Life.”
