Living Inside a Magical Bubble

In Trees, Paris 1963American photographer Melvin Sokolsky played a major role in the revival of fashion photography in the 1960s. One of his most famous fashion photo shoots was the Bubble series which he shot for Harper's Bazaar when he was just 21-years-old. The series shows fashion models floating through the air, contained in giant clear plastic bubbles.

Spectacular Surfboard Art

What could be better than sun, surf and…art? The US Open of Surfing began Saturday July 30 in Orange County. If you're headed down to Huntington Beach between now and next Saturday, be sure to stop by the Pac Sun Booth where they'll have custom surfboards on display in addition to live painting sessions.Angry Woebots started it all off with their awesome painting, and Greg “Craola” Simkins will end it this Saturday.

Oregon-based Davidson is a nationally recognized fine art pet photographer, and for good reason. Her series Shake is about dogs shaking off water in a cute and funny fashion. How does she do it? Answer: High speed photography. Love their crazy expressions!

Modern Japanese Woodblock Paintings

30-year-old Japanese artist Mao Nakada is known for his modern twist on traditional Japanese woodblock printing. The traditional technique starts when the artist draws on a washi, a thin paper used to transfer the material, which is then glued onto a plank. Using a small instrument, the washi is then pressed against the paper, which transfers the image. Nakada combines this technique with his own to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces.
