Once upon a time, San Francisco-based designer Rachel Sigmon worked as a licensed cosmetologist and professional makeup artist. After realizing that she would “rather be a starving artist than a slave to [her] shears,” however, the mother-of-three decided to follow her passion and move in a slightly different direction: headdress design. Now, through her exquisite Etsy shop, Sigmon sells a selection of her enchanting creations, which includes both her distinctive hats and hair accessories and other works of wearable art.

Street Artist’s “Neo Post Cubism” Graffiti Combines Cubism with Realism

Spanish street artist Miguel Ángel Belinchón—better known as Belin—creates hyperrealistic portraits with a cubist twist. Inspired by the deconstructed forms and expressive portraits of Pablo Picasso, Belin describes his avant-garde style as Neo Post Cubism, a term he has coined and continues to experiment with. Belin's peculiar portraits are rooted in reality yet stylistically surreal. While the features of each subject are lifelike and rendered in astounding detail, they are arranged in a fractured and frantic manner.

Artist Meticulously Whittles Suspended Tree Trunk Into Realistic Sculpture of Tattered Rope

Artist Maskull Lasserre is known for his inventive installations that “induce strangeness in the familiar, and provoke uncertainty in the expected.” For Schrodinger’s Wood, a suspended tree sculpture, Lasserre has expertly carved a large and lumbering tree trunk into a delicately detailed piece of frayed rope. Cleverly named after the well-known thought experiment, Schrodinger’s Wood features a hanging tree trunk whose midsection has been whittled away into a realistic representation of unraveling rope.
