Known for its extravagance, Byzantine architecture is defined by the best structural advancements of the age and multiple religious influences. Each Dome in This Futuristic Botanical Garden Has a Different Climate and Plant Life

The Taiyuan Botanical Garden has recently opened on the site of a former coal mine in the Jinyuan district of Tiayuan, China. Designed by Delugan Meissl Associated Architects, the work blends a museum, a botanical garden, and a new diverse landscape into a beautiful cohesive development. Three domes are placed along a vast artificial lake and act as greenhouses that are full of vibrant plant life from various disparate climates.

Kengo Kuma Designs Dramatic Staircase With Metal Chain Curtains in Gaudí’s Casa Batlló

Architecture lovers will be excited to find the work of more than one master designer when they visit Barcelona’s Casa Batlló. Aside from Casa Batlló itself—which is an iconic example of Catalan Modernisme or Art Nouveau architecture designed by Antoni Gaudí—visitors will find a dramatic staircase addition designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma.
