Architects Transform Grain Silos into Africa’s Largest Art Museum

At 100,000 square feet, the Zeitz MOCAA is set to be the largest museum to open on the African continent in more than a hundred years. This landmark museum, which will exhibit contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora, is more than deserving of a grand architectural monument to house the collection. By hollowing out a historic grain silo, British architect Thomas Heatherwick has created a piece of architecture worthy of the museum.

Museum Built Around Space Shuttle Enterprise

The long retired space shuttle Enterprise may soon be getting a new home. One of four shuttles donated by NASA to museums around the country, the Enterprise could possibly be housed in a new museum across from the now Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum Complex in New York, New York. The concept Space Shuttle Enterprise museum would be a combination of education and a public programming center.

Modern Architecture – Jeju Provincial Art Museum (8 pics)

The natural beauty of Jeju Island in South Korea serves as a backdrop for this museum designed by Seoul-based architects Gansam Partners. Situated within the Halla Mountains, the recently completed Jeju Provincial Art Museum accentuates the surrounding natural environment through material selection and carefully designed views of the exterior. Made of local Jeju stone and concrete, the museum blurs the boundary between man-made and natural.

Many of us love and admire the sleek, sexy style, and first-class performance of BMW's. Consistent with their cars, the BMW Museum in Munich, Germany looks pretty spectacular. Through innovative technology and design, the museum takes new approaches to intertwine modern architecture, rad cars, and interactive media. Designed by Atelier Bruecknen, the new museum opened on June 21st, 2008.
