First Bamboo Biennale Creates Cutting-Edge Structures in Small Chinese Village

Celebrating bamboo as a construction material, the first International Bamboo Architecture Biennale took place in the small village of Baoxi, China in 2016. The mainly agricultural mountain village is located twelve hours from Shanghai and is now home to these incredible structures designed by twelve international architects. These images, shot by photographer Julien Lanoo, give a sense at how the bamboo buildings blend into the community as permanent structures.

Redditor KahlumG recently shared pictures of his uncle Stuart Grant's house that takes a Lord of the Rings fascination to the next level. Located near Tomich, Scotland, Stuart constructed his own real-life Hobbit house with a magical-looking outside and impressive interior that does the franchise proud.

First House Ever Designed by Gaudí to Open as a Museum in Barcelona

The father of Catalan Modernism, Antoni Gaudí, is finally getting his own museum in the newly renovated Casa Vicens. The building, Gaudí's first house, is considered one of the first examples of Art Nouveau architecture and has been closed since 2015 while being refitted as a museum. This World Heritage site will open to the public for the first time in the second half of 2017.
