Strands of Woven Hair Form Unique Language at SFMOMA

?For the past 20 years, New York-based artist Wenda Gu has created site-specific installations across the world as part of his ongoing project entitled United Nations. His most recent piece, Bable of the Millennium, was installed as part of the permanent collection at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and fuses concepts of language and culture together into a 75-foot high display.

40-Foot Hand-Carved Sculpture Earns Guinness World Record

This huge wooden sculpture is an impressive display of the famous Chinese wood carver Zheng Chunhui's incredible hand-carving skills. Standing more than 40 feet long, almost 8 feet wide, and, at one point, 10 feet tall, the massive work of art was formed out of just one single log and was recently declared the world's longest wood sculpture by the Guinness Book of World Records.

Thousands of Hammered Nails Form Detailed Portraits

Instead of using a pen and ink, artist David Foster hammers thousands of nails onto a canvas to create these incredibly detailed portraits. Originally an architect, Foster's love for technical drawing translates perfectly into these meticulously produced arrangements. Each piece is based off of a photograph that the artist first reproduces with an ink pen. He then enlarges the drawing to use as his guide for the finished pieces.
