Computer Parts World Map Symbolizes Digital Future

Susan Stockwell up-cycles with intense ingenuity. The parts the UK-based artist uses for each piece adds to the message she attempts to relay to the world. World is a giant world map made from recycled computer parts commissioned by the University of Bedfordshire. What began in 2010 is now completed with motherboards, electrical wiring, fans and other components donated by the people at Secure IT Recycling.

Hanging Sculptures at the Guggenheim

Designboom Image Alessandro Ghirelli Ready for a crazy installation? Artist Maurizio Cattelan pulls inspiration from nearly everything around him in both popular culture and history. He's known to produce sculptures that are comedic in nature but often times have an underlying, politically-based theme. He draws from a past of menial jobs and financial hardships that shaped much of his early work, as well as a mistrust in authority.

The Last Supper Made of 20,000 Spools of Thread

Showing on 11-11-11, at the debut of the brand new Crystal Bridges Museum in Bentonville, Arkansas, is an incredibly impressive work of art created by Devorah Sperber. Using over 20,000 spools of thread, Sperber created “After the Last Supper,” a monumental work that's the life-sized recreation of Leonardo da Vinci's “The Last Supper.” A viewing sphere, positioned in front of the work, shrinks or condenses the thread spool “pixels” into a recognizable image.

Amazing Floor-to-Ceiling Graffiti Tree

The TSF crew is at it again! This past summer we wrote about graffiti done by the artists that looked like an Earth-Shattering Shout. Here, they're back again with a larger design that reaches as far up as the ceiling! This anamorphic graffiti tree plays with depth perception and shadows to make it seem like the tree is breaking out of its surface.
