Artist Burns Intricate Landscapes Onto Pieces of Reclaimed Wood

Pieces of reclaimed wood are given a second life through the art of Jynae Bergeron. The Canada-based artist, better known as Art & Airplanes, practices pyrography, a technique that involves using a heated metal pen to burn wood. In this way, she renders striking modern designs inspired by the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Originally from Saskatchewan, Bergeron says she discovered her love of the Western landscape over time.

Gallery Walls Are Transformed Into Exquisitely Ornate Art Made of Cardboard

Humble cardboard is transformed into spectacular artwork by French artist Eva Jospin. Using the ubiquitous paper material, she creates cave-like architectural elements and smaller sculptures that showcase its versatility. Now on view in her solo exhibition titled Folies, each piece gives cardboard a voice. Sawed, inlaid, and stacked, Jospin creates a permanence to an ephemeral material.

78 Miles and 500,000 Knots of Twine Are Billowing Above Downtown Columbus

Floating above downtown Columbus, Ohio, is a new sculpture by artist Janet Echelman. Titled Current, the massive soft fiber installation spans 229 feet long and stretches 126 feet in the air at its highest point. It appears as an abstract cloud hovering over Gay and High Streets. At the right angle, it has an almost iridescent effect that makes the experience of walking through the city unexpectedly magical.
