Interview: Street Artist Learns Freediving to Paint Underwater on Artificial Reefs

Artist Sean Yoro, better known as Hula, grew up in Hawaii, where his love of nature flourished and later combined with his artistic talents. He’s most commonly recognized for his murals that play with watery reflections in forgotten spaces, which he often paints while floating atop his surfboard. Using environmentally-friendly pigments, the artist’s figures seem to emerge from the water like mermaids drawing the viewer in with their eyes.

Sunlight on This Street Installation Casts Shadow Messages About Passage of Time

Indian street artist DAKU recently unveiled an immersive shadow art installation in Panjim, Goa. Titled Theory of Time, the incredible street-long piece features a net of suspended letters that create typographic shadows on the concrete floor, when sunlight shines down on it during the day. The letters spell out phrases related to the passage of time, such as “Time works wonders” and “Time is an illusion.

These “Negative” Murals Only Reveal Themselves When Colors Are Inverted

Colombian artist Sepc is known for his figurative aerosol art and graffiti lettering, but it's a new technique that is making waves. The artist was looking for a way to reinvent himself when he decided to experiment with painting in “negative.” The results are pieces of art that can only be fully appreciated when “developed” into a “positive” image.
