Interview: Erin Hanson Pioneers the Energetic Style of Open-Impressionism

Artist Erin Hanson began to study oil painting when she was only eight years old. By the age of ten, she had completed her first paid commission. Her portfolio of work only grew from there, and after graduating from UC Berkeley, the creative established open-impressionism–her own distinct style of painting. Before long, other artists started emulating Hanson's technique and she was credited as the inventor of this contemporary style.

Giant Floating Dandelion Made of Over 3,000 Hand-Blown Glass Orbs

Artist Wolf Buttress has created a sculptural installation that looks like a giant dandelion wafting in the breeze. Its center, surrounded by delicate, tiny florets, mimics the flower's wispy shape and feel. Titled Lucent, this larger-than-life orb is suspended above a darkened, reflecting pool that mirrors the brilliant illuminated tips, doubling its stunning presence. Although it has the soft appearance of a dandelion, Buttress produced Lucent with another, much larger, natural body in mind–the universe.

Moving Sculptures Kiss and Cross Paths Every Day to Visually Tell a Tragic Love Story

This 8-meter-tall steel sculpture by Georgian artist Tamara Kvesitadze is not only a stunning example of mechanics and design, but also a depiction of eternal love between nations. The structure symbolizes the story of Ali and Nino, two lovers from different religious backgrounds. Every night at 7pm, the two figures begin changing positions, moving towards one another until they meet in a brief embrace, before passing through and continuing on their path.
