Rearrangeable Layers of Glass Form Stunning 3D Landscapes and Seascapes

Lucie Boucher and Bernie Huebner of Stone Ridge Glass are the creators of Glasscapes, stunning three dimensional sculptures made of layers of colored glass. Many of the works are interactive, meaning that the glass layers can be rearranged to take on completely different scenes. For the seascape piece above, called Ocean Laughter II, the glass pieces each represent a separate wave.

In Venice's 400-year-old Church of San Giorgio Maggiore, Spanish artist Jaume Plensa has debuted a marvelous exhibition of his latest work. When visitors enter the magnificent basilica, they are greeted by two of Plensa's large-scale sculptural installations, which are part of his “Together” presentation for the 2015 Venice Art Biennale, a national artistic showcase that began in 1893.

Worldwide “Outings” Project Pastes Museum Paintings Onto City Streets

If you're walking along the streets of cities like Paris, Barcelona, and Portland, you might come across the Outings project. It's a worldwide participative event that was initiated by French artist and filmmaker Julien de Casabianaca. People around the globe install obscure figures seen in historical paintings as street art. These subjects now occupy bricks and concrete rather than carefully-prepared canvases. They live among graffitied walls and gaze at passersby, bringing beauty to unexpected places.

Delicate Lace Patterns Intricately Cut from Industrial Metal Surfaces

Artist Cal Lane fuses the industrial strength of steel and iron with the delicacy of lacework in her series of intricately cut sculptures called “industrial doilies.” Fine filigree designs of flowers, graceful scallops, and mythical creatures adorn the metal surfaces of discarded car hoods, cages, and shovels, creating an intriguing sense of contrast and juxtaposition.
