Craftsman Beautifully Fashions Ships from Star Wars and Star Trek into Coffee Tables

Tennessee-based furniture designer Barry Shields has beautifully handcrafted two coffee tables that pay homage to beloved sci-fi classics. The intricate custom pieces resemble an X-wing Starfighter from Star Wars and the U.S.S. Enterprise from Star Trek. Shields used a combination of ash, cherry, and poplar woods to carve the details that make these ships an unforgettable part of popular culture. Both are mounted on thick panes of glass that complement the vessels' shapes.

Adorably Tiny Animals Fashioned into Ceramic Succulent Planters

So Paulo-based artist Priscilla Ramos has crafted some of the cutest creatures in her line of ceramic planters. Her shop, called Cumbuca Chic, features adorable animals like capybaras, anteaters, and foxes, formed into functional objects. They're small enough to hold in your hand, making them perfect for planting succulents or cacti. Vegetation can playfully be displayed, sprouting out of the backs or tops of the figures' heads.

Minimalist Staircase Elegantly Frames Built-In Bookshelf

Netherlands-based firm Marc Koehler Architects designed a staircase that doubles as a bookshelf for its homeowners. The elegant structure features a set of minimalist, white wooden stairs that frame a large, well-used shelving unit below. It's a creative way to store the residents' bevy of books whose arrangement mimics the shape of the steps. This staircase was a redesign for the Amsterdam-based house.
