Japanese illustrator Takumi blends popular culture with the ancient Ukiyo-e art form in his latest series of superhero illustrations. To celebrate the recent Avengers: Endgame film release, the talented fantasy fan rendered each famous character in the style of authentic Japanese woodblock illustrations. Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, and the rest of the cast have been thoughtfully reimagined as if they’re fierce Japanese warriors.

Artist Transforms Coffee Stains into Mischievous Little Monster Illustrations

To most people, a coffee stain might not seem like much, but to German illustrator Stefan Kuhnigk, there’s hidden creatures inside every obscure, brown smudge. The self-confessed caffeine lover turns random coffee spillages into all sorts of weird and wonderful monster characters. It all started in 2011, while at a meeting at the ad agency he works at, Kuhnigk accidentally spilled a cup of coffee on some paper.

These Giant Rorschach Paint Blots Are Actually Colored Pencil Drawings

At first glance, the work of Cj Hendry looks like colorful blobs of oil paint. However, they’re actually colored pencil drawings. The talented artist has been drawing lustrous blobs of paint for years, but her latest series—aptly titled Rorschach—adds a psychological layer to her work. The colorful series is based on inkblot tests (also known as the Rorschach test).
